Current trends are all about thick, dark brows. Gone are the days of the super-skinny, super-arched brows you saw on pop stars in the early 2000s; now, everyone wants a strong brow à la Cara Delevingne. Unfortunately, most people are not naturally blessed with on-fleek brows, but that’s okay. That’s why microblading was invented! If you have never heard of this new beauty treatment, we are happy to enlighten you.
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that has become increasingly popular recently to enhance the brows. During a microblading session, small incisions are made with a nanoblade dipped in pigment that matches your natural hair color. This adds shape and creates more fullness for the brows while looking natural. The results last from a year to two years, depending on your skin type. After this time, the pigment fades.
For best results, you want to make sure your skin is as healthy as possible before your treatment. Make sure to wear sunscreen, treat any blemishes, and avoid anything that will aggravate the area. If you are having any treatments done to your face, make sure they are at least two weeks before your microblading appointment. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications 24-hours beforehand.
Microblading is a fine art that cannot be rushed; after all, we are tattooing your face! The attention to detail put into this procedure dictates that it takes about two hours. You will then need to have a follow-up appointment about six weeks later to ensure the pigment lasts.
We won’t lie; it’s typical to feel some discomfort during this procedure. However, we can use a numbing cream to reduce some of the pain. With this numbing agent, it’s typical to only feel a mild scraping sensation.
After microblading, you cannot get the area wet for 10 days, so make sure to cover your face in the shower. You also cannot wear makeup for a week minimum. While it is typical to experience some scabbing and itchiness, it’s imperative not to scratch the area. You should avoid sweating, saunas, and swimming between your first appointment and follow-up appointment. In addition, you want to keep your hair away from your brows as they heal. Finally, make sure to regularly apply the healing ointment.
When you’re ready to stop feeling self-conscious about your eyebrows and start putting your best face forward, we can help you with microblading in Tampa! Contact Serenity Salon & Spa for an appointment for this permanent makeup today.
